Merit Contractors, Inc. has been providing design/build construction services and general contracting in the DFW area since 1988, and continues to provide the same great quality work we started out with many years ago.

Jim Mirkes – President and Owner

Jim began working in construction at age 12, knowing it was his life’s calling, he majored in construction management and engineering at Oklahoma State University.  He then worked for several corporations, leading their commercial building projects and earned promotions to the level of Vice President.  In 1988 he opened Merit Contractors, Inc. in Plano, Texas.  His experience is extensive in design/build commercial construction.  He is licensed in Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana.

Boyd Powell – Senior Estimator

Boyd possesses extensive experience with accurate estimating of small and large commercial projects, including new construction and remodel. He has performed these duties for Merit since 1996. His high level of industry knowledge and attention to detail are qualities that make him a respected and dependable estimator.  With Boyd’s previous experience of 9 years in this industry, he provides 30 years of dedication and commitment to our clients.
